I just got back from break, where I had quite the productive hour.  I first dropped off my DJ equipment at Joe’s house and showed him the bottle of tequila I got as a tip.  He reported to me that of the five shows last weekend, three guys got stiffed on tips, I got my $5 and tequila, and one dude got a record $300 tip.  Just goes to show that it’s pretty much a crapshoot.  Sometimes you can do a great job and get nothing; other times you can screw it up and get a great tip.  Just depends on the couple.

Next, at Super America, I had to wait around for several minutes for one of 16 pumps to open.  You’d never know gas was $3.89 a gallon judging by the mad rush for gas.  I had to awkwardly back into a pump eventually to fill up.  The grand total for 16.3 gallons of gas?  $63.41.  That breaks my record for most money spent to fill up my car.

Next I went to Chipotle for a quick lunch.  I got there at 11:30 to beat the noon rush.  Despite there being only a few cars in the parking lot, the line stretched all the way outside.  I decided instead to go next door to Buffalo Wild Wings and say hi to Kayla and grab a bite there.  There was one man in front of me in line, and he was trying to use like four gift cards that each had less than $3 remaining on them, so it was an arduous process of going through each card and figuring out the balance.  I finally ate and got out of there.

Finally, I swung by Target to pick up some body wash and a heavy duty extension cord.  There were three cashiers working.  Every time I go to the Chanhassen Target, this one grouchy woman named Laurie is working and I always wind up going through her line.  Somehow, it’s always the shortest.  Out of principle alone I waited in a different line this time.  Unfortunately, the woman in front of me had a cart heaping with baby items, and a wild toddler throwing things out of the cart onto the ground, laughing furiously while the stressed mother kept picking things up and putting them on the line.  I eventually got fed up and had to go to Laurie’s line.

Yet in the end, I think break can be considered successful.

The big question for the week is whether or not my car will survive.  When Dad can’t figure out what is wrong with my car just by listening to my vague descriptions of the sounds the car is making, you know it can’t be good!  On my drive home from work Friday, my car ran fine until I got into Uptown and started going down side roads.  It started shaking wildly like something was about to explode.  I was still able to drive, just not very fast, and I was shaking all over the place like I was driving through a field of potholes.

This made me nervous since I had to DJ way up in Annandale Saturday, but miraculously my car ran like new once I started it up.  No problems whatsoever.  It’s an absolute mystery as to why my car would act up like that one day and be fine the next.  I also drove to work today problem-free.  Now the question is whether or not my car could make it to Milwaukee and back this weekend.  We either risk it with my car or we all pack into Walsh’s VW.

I have 13 big projects on this week’s To-Do List.  Speaking of which, maybe I should get to work.
