For almost five years, I operated RyanGlanzer.com, my personal website full of photos, blog entries, polls, contests, countdowns, interviews, etc. But the busier I got, I realized it was too difficult to continue to do everything manually. I started uploading all photos to Facebook and then began blogging on WordPress. I am not too concerned with who or how many people are reading my blog… in fact I am actively trying to not get any new followers! Things I have written have tended to get me into more trouble than anything, especially with a former employer.
For those of you who don’t know me, I was born in 1982 in Huron, South Dakota to Dick and Marcie Glanzer. I lived on a farm outside the unincorporated community of Carpenter, SD until I graduated from Willow Lake High School in 2001, then went on to Madison, SD where I graduated from Dakota State University in late 2005. In January 2006 I moved to Minneapolis to pursue a graphic design career, and was hired by Chanhassen-based Microboards. In October 2009 I married Lauren Poulter, and for over two years we lived in Minneapolis in a tiny apartment. In June 2011, I accepted a contract job with a major well-known golf equipment manufacturer and moved to Austin, TX. After I was hired on full-time, Lauren quit her job and moved too.
I enjoy singing karaoke, cheering for the Minnesota sports teams (especially the Twins), tipping back an adult beverage or eleven, traveling, visiting TV landmarks, trying different restaurants, and watching every Best Picture winner. My greatest hatreds include driving in wintry weather, being late, studying, sitting at dinner tables for over an hour after the meal ends, the Yankees and Jets, and billiards.
I have traveled to four countries and 32 states and lived in three states, but no trip was more fun than our 2004 spring break road trip to Las Vegas. I have seen 29 of the 30 MLB teams play in person (all but the Marlins) and have come away with baseballs five times. I am known for my inability to keep secrets, poor night vision, poor money management skills, and paranoia of the supernatural. Yet I am also known for my ability to remember obscure details and specific dates, capturing every important and unimportant event on camera, my Photoshop skills, and luck when it comes to random drawings or contests.
