Friday evening after work, Lauren and I went to the tuxedo shop in Edina where I modeled a couple different tuxes, and of course, I went with the weird one. That means fathers and groomsmen also get to wear the weird one! Actually I thought it was kinda cool. We’ll be wearing the long morning coats, with the tails down to the knees. And the pants are striped, not solid. Lauren took some pictures which I’m sure will be shared soon. I also intend to purchase monocles for all males in the wedding, if for nothing more than some funny pictures and mementos.
Afterwards, we ate dinner at Market BBQ on Nicollet, a place we had been thinking of trying for a year but never got around to it. It was very delicious, but in my opinion wasn’t quite as good as Famous Dave’s. We came back to the apartment, and soon Jason joined us for a very impressive game of Trivial Pursuit. Possibly because we were all a little tipsy, the game took hours. Lauren was the first to collect all her pieces and move to the middle of the board for the victory, but fell asleep and quit! Jason was the next to get all his pieces and kept getting absurdly hard questions about actresses from the silent film era. I was next to move into position for the win and kept getting ridiculously hard questions about tennis and golf. So we continued going back and forth, over and over again, until Jason finally got an easy movie question for the win. Lauren literally could have woken up after an hour of sleep, come back out and still won.

A dramatic look at the three-way tie that carried on into the night.
Saturday, I woke up very late and immediately went for a 3-mile run around Lake of the Isles. After spending the afternoon watching the Twins fall to 5-16 on the road, Lauren wanted to go to the gym, so I tagged along and sat in the hot tub for a while and did some light swimming. We both signed up for accounts at About.com’s Calorie Count website, which is pretty cool. You enter everything you eat for a day, all the activity you take part in, and it grades and analyzes you.
When we returned home, I found out you can make your own quizzes on Facebook, and I couldn’t wait to try it out by making a very funny Which Glanzer Family Member Are You? quiz, which so far has been taken by a handful of people. It looks like I did a good job of matching the answers to each family member, because Jordan took the quiz and was most like herself. If you are on Facebook, I encourage you to go over and do the quiz yourself right now and let me know how it turns out for you!
Late in the evening, Lauren and I took a walk past our old house on 26th St and went to the late-night Happy Hour at Jasmine 26 for dinner, where Vietnamese entrees, drinks, and appetizers were half off. We sat outside and ate by candlelight while sipping some sake. Very romantic, indeed!
This weekend we also finished Season 3 of The Wire, which Jason lent us, and started Season 4. Season 3 was my favorite so far, as a major in the Baltimore police force decides to cut crime by essentially legalizing drugs in certain designated areas, thereby at least cleaning up the rest of the town. It works, and crime falls 14%, but once people find out what he’s done, will they let it stand or shut it down?
Today, we are almost certainly going to go get our bikes from the Rosoks’ garage. We’ve been planning on doing this every weekend since early April, and I really do want to have my bike back for the summer. That will be a good 3-mile ride, so that will be our exercise for the day. We’ll also probably watch the Twins game and more of The Wire.

I should blame Kenny Chesney and his newest hit single “Out Last Night”. I think it persuaded me to live out his song.
Things certainly got out of control yesterday when Jason and I hit up the Uptown Minneapolis bar scene. It’s very rare that I wake up the next morning and can’t remember what happened, but I needed a reminder from Lauren. I apparently threw my shoe off the balcony, spent a half hour on the phone with Alex and Colin, took money out of an ATM but didn’t actually take the money, and went into a rant about how I hate people after returning from Country Bar. Damn you Green Mill and your amazing Sunday all-day happy hour deals! But, I guess that will happen on a three-day weekend after just getting paid and not having a lot to do. The important thing is I woke up and felt fine this morning.
I’ll report on the rest of my weekend fun later, but just wanted to let everyone who may have received a weird text message, phone call, or unusual Facebook activity last night know that I’m sorry!
On a bright note, I just weighed in at 245 this morning, meaning I’m down 22 pounds since March 1.
Staring at Screens April 15, 2009

The nicest day of 2009 is here, and I spent it by sitting in front of a computer screen from 8am to 5pm, and am just sitting back down for 3.5 more hours of staring. Yes, I will probably get online at least once when I get home from class too, flipping back and forth between Facebook, mlb.com, and my e-mail. I’m so used to having a computer in front of me that I think I feel somewhat naked without one. If I’m in a situation where I don’t have computer access, I still have my cell phone handy at all times. It might be nice if I weren’t so reliant on these things.
So far this week, I’ve kept very busy. Monday night after work, Lauren and I went to the Twins game which we already had tickets for. Neither of us even felt much like going, but we’d already spent the $12 on tickets a month ago, so we went and watched the Blue Jays beat the Twins, 8-6. As if the loss wasn’t bad enough, a large group of unsupervised 8-year olds sat right behind us, screaming the whole game. Their taunts were so absurd. One kid taunted Jays’ outfielder Travis Snider by yelling “Hey Snider, go back to Synder Drug and be a pharmacist! You suck!” Really, Snyder Drug? How wildly obscure.
Tuesday after work, Lauren and I went to the Profile Event Center with Jason, Jaime, and Christian for an entree tasting for our wedding reception. It was very elaborate and not at all what I expected. We were given five different delicious entrees to pick from, as well as salads and dinner rolls and sodas. While Jason openly questioned why he was there, it was relevant and informative for me and Lauren. I may also have gotten a much easier, much less painless DJ job out of the deal, but that’s very indefinite and a story for another day.
Tonight, I’m at MCTC for the fourth of six Flash classes. As soon as class gets out, Lauren is picking me up to go to the gym. We’ve barely had a chance to go over the last week and need to get back into the swing of things. Tomorrow we might actually have a night free to do some much-needed grocery shopping.

I am back in Minneapolis, and very, very happy to be here. I had a great time in Las Vegas, and for the most part the San Francisco trade show trip was an okay time, but the last 24 hours were insane as the three of us tried to solve the simple problem of getting two iMacs home. I wound up racing across an airport at the last minute searching for a UPS store because the boxes were too big to carry on the plane. Whatever, it’s over, I’m home, and I am very happy the trip is over. But I’m still a little upset over that whole ordeal and am sure it will carry over to work Monday.
I don’t really have any other tales from the trip to mention. We finished the show, packed up, ate dinner at the Wharf, and went to bed early. The flight was as smooth as can be. I will give big props to NWA for another great flight. I’ve heard people say Southwest is the superior airline, but I am now 10-for-10 receiving my luggage from NWA and 0-for-1 on Southwest.
It was quite the moment when I spotted Lauren at the airport to pick me up. I couldn’t run fast enough to meet back up and get on the road. I was even relieved to see our wildly messy house, Sarah, Walsh, Nick, Roscoe, and even black farm cat who apparently made a disastrous poopy mess of the basement while I was away.
I’ll work on posting pictures this weekend on Facebook. I’ll post a link as soon as they’re up.

Since I was banned from using the Internet at work for posting blogs or anything else non-work-related, my work days have become surprisingly productive, but also long. Whereas before when I had a little down time, I’d pop open baseball-reference.com or Facebook. Now, I have to find more work. Today easily ranks Top 10 all-time for longest feeling day of work. At one point I thought it was 4 and it was 2:20. I was very disappointed. Over break, Josh and I met up with Nick and Patrick for a little D-Brian’s action in EP. Josh got to meet the gang for the first time, and I’m sure he was impressed.
The weekend is practically here, and I’m DJing not once, but twice this weekend. Here’s hoping I get tipped well this time. When we call the bride and groom the week before the dance, we’re supposed to tell them “If there’s anything I can do to earn your reference and gratuity, please don’t hesitate to give me a call.” I feel weird asking them point-blank for a tip on the phone, so I typically leave that part out and just hope they know to do so.
Friday night, however, we should have some fun. Lauren and I are going to the Twins/Diamondbacks game with our free tickets from Twinsfest and hopefully will land ourselves Dan Gladden bobblehead dolls. Afterwards, Kyle “2-run single” Dahl is hosting a bon fire at his house in Maple Grove, which I’ve still never visited. I have a vision in my head of what it looks like though. We’ll see how close I am to getting it right.
Right now, I’m chilling on the couch by the AC with a Fat Tire Skinny Dip, which is quite possibly my favorite current beer, watching Scrubs, and waiting to see what’s keeping Lady L. She would normally be home by now!
