The next in my 2009 interview series is with none other than Lauren A. Poulter!  Lauren had a chance over lunch break to answer my burning questions for her regarding our move in two weeks, the wedding this fall, her new-ish job, and traveling the globe before any babies arrive.

In his first public interview since 2006, my father, Dick Glanzer, talks openly and candidly about life on the farm, angry barnyard animals, the future of Dick’s Garage, and looking forward to the big wedding this October. Plus, we learn once and for all if Dad ever plans to shave again!

Also on this Monday morning, we must all be sure to wish Lauren a happy 25th birthday!

It’s been half a year since I’ve conducted an interview with anyone on RyanGlanzer.com, and I think it’s time to get a few new ones up there!  The first in my 2009 series is sister Jordan Krogman, who has recently received good news regarding a new house and a nursing exam, and continues to bring up little Peyton, Emerson, and Hudson with husband Calvin.

In other news, I’ve been busy this week with several relocations.  Last night Lauren and I headed south to Faribault where we helped Walsh move from his apartment into a house he and Sarah are renting.  It was a tough job moving heavy furniture down a tall, narrow stairway, but we managed.  Also this week, Lauren and I have agreed on a new apartment which we’ll be able to move into in late February.  It’s in the same neighborhood in Uptown, just a few blocks away.

Other than that, not much new.  Mom and Dad are expected to visit this weekend to switch cars back and take our farm cat home after it rode back to Minneapolis with us in my trunk after Christmas.  It’s been living in our basement and pooping at an alarming rate, and clawing me every chance it gets, so I won’t be too sad to see it go.

The DJing season took another step towards the finish line Saturday when I made the short trip down to Shakopee to do a dance for a couple in their 30s who met on match.com.  I got the impression right away that the couple was a little different than most.  I couldn’t put my finger on it, but they were a little odd.  There weren’t many interesting moments from the night.  They played a 23-minute slideshow… I know because I had to play the background music.  Dinner was mediocre at best with roast beef and some interesting green beans.  There was a strange moment when five attractive women in their 30s danced to “I Like Big Butts” with a couple boys under 10.  The low point was no tip, but the high point was being done by 11 and home before midnight for the first time ever.  Next weekend at Shoreview closes out the season.

Ah, now for a day of rest and relaxation!  The plans for Sunday are to grocery shop and perhaps go around Target with a pricing gun and get a start on our wedding gift registry.  Lauren’s dad invented the gift registry apparatus, you know.  There’s also a big corn maze I thought looked like a different way to get out and get some exercise and have fun.

Also, we’re anxiously waiting to hear if Lauren’s interview went well on Thursday.  She could hear as early as Monday, and if she gets her job, would start the following Monday.

Last night, Lauren wrote me a 40-question interview which I immediately answered and posted on ryanglanzer.com, the first new content I’ve generated for the website in a couple months.  Unlike the funny interviews Jason and I have written for each other, I actually tried to give serious and honest responses to most questions, which makes for an interesting read.  In hindsight I should have been funnier, but I will not change anything.

Yesterday I of course went out and purchased a used bike from Penn Cycle and had fun tearing around downtown Minneapolis.  Yes, it felt very funny to be riding a bike, and even stranger to be riding on the streets with traffic in downtown.  On Friday night we went to test out a couple bikes at Re-Cycle in Uptown.  I told the guy at the store I hadn’t ridden a bike since high school and wondered if I’d still be able to do it, and he replied, “Yeah, it’s a lot like riding a bike.”

It definitely felt off to not DJ last night.  Having a Saturday off made it feel like Sunday, so waking up this morning made it feel like Monday and I did not want to get up for work.  It was a very nice feeling when I realized I didn’t have to.  Today we don’t have much for plans.  Lauren and I are talking about going for a walk to Figlio’s to watch the Twins game at 1 where they have $2 beer and $2 appetizers all afternoon.

Ryan: Lauren, what do you think of Juan Rincon’s pitching for the Twins?
Lauren: Juan Rincon is the master of his own formula for “success”, which is single, walk, wild pitch, double, single, home run.

Ryan: If you were the Twins, what would you do with Juan Rincon right now?
Lauren: DFA.  I am going to start a DFA chant next time I go to a Twins game.

Ryan: For those of you who don’t know, DFA means “designated for assignment.”  That means his job is in serious trouble.  What will the final score of tonight’s game be?
Lauren: You know, in all honesty, it’s in my personal best interest that Rincon gives up a shit ton of runs, therefore his uselessness will be known forever, and ever, and ever, amen.  But I don’t want the Twins to lose by a lot of runs.  I’ll probably say, White Sox 10, Twins 6.
Ryan: I will say White Sox 14, Twins 7.

Well, back to the game…
